The Airport XI Tapeball tournament will have its fourth installment on February 28th at the Timerhi ground (opposite the Airport) and due to restrictions, the organisers are only catering for the first 14 teams to register.

The registration is fee is G$12,000 per team, and teams seeking to register can contact Keshan Persaud on 660-1368.

Irfaan Alli, one of the organisers, explained that in the past the multitude of teams meant the tournament ran too late and given they have to follow strict COVID-19 guidelines this time around, they have opted to reduce the teams and play the tournament on a straight knockout basis.

It will be 11 players per side competing in a six-over contest, and according to Alli, the move to play the full 11 comes as a result of what the organsers feel will offer better competition.

The winning team will pocket G$120,000 and a trophy, while the runners-up will get $30,000 and a trophy. Prizes will also be awarded to Man-of-the Match in the final, best batsman and best bowler.

The semi-final and final will be played under lights; the day’s action will bowl off at 10:00h.

The sponsors are Mohamed’s Enterprise, Express Logistics Inc., S&S Scents and We the best Tint Zone. Some of the teams set to compete are Eccles All Stars, Team Corruption, Red Bull, Village Rams and Airport XI.
