The Police are seeking a man who slashed his cousin’s throat after a birthday celebration descended into a family brawl.
Dead is 25-year-old Reaz Mohamed, of Lot 1 Section A D’Edward Village, West Bank Berbice.
Reports are that Mohamed was drinking alcohol at a birthday celebration which ran from Saturday evening into Sunday.
However, when the celebration ended and the music was turned off at just about 18:30h Sunday, Mohamed reportedly began behaving in a disorderly manner and began smashing bottles.
When his father Farouk Mohamed, 50, tried to question him, he grabbed his father to beat him.
The News Room understands that Mohamed’s cousin and his brother tried to prevent Mohamed from assaulting his father, but he continued to behave in the same manner.
It was during this altercation that the cousin grabbed a knife and slashed him to the throat. The cousin then ran away from the scene.
The Police are currently seeking his whereabouts.
Mohamed was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he succumbed.
