Lusignan prison escapee recaptured

Ranks of the Guyana Police Force on Saturday morning recaptured convicted prisoner, James Moore, five months after he escaped from the Lusignan Prison, East Coast Demerara.

James was recaptured in ‘A’ Field Sophia at about 06:15h. Moore had escaped on September 29, 2020, while working in the kitchen at the Lusignan Prison.

“He will be charged criminally for escaping from lawful custody,” Nicklon Elliot, Director of Prisons (ag) said.

The News Room had reported that the 23-year-old was booked out from the Holding Bay at the prison to be on kitchen duty. At about 16:30h he was discovered missing from the kitchen.

Moore is serving a three years sentence for armed robbery.
