Baby girl in critical condition after father reverses car into her

An 18-month-old girl, identified as Adena Ramkissoon is in critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after her father reversed his Raum motorcar into her on Sunday morning at their Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara (ECD) house.

Police Headquarters in a statement noted that the father, Danny Ramkissoon, operates a home-based taxi service, and as he was about to leave home to pick up a customer, he felt as though his vehicle ran over something.

He stopped, exited the vehicle, and upon checking, he observed his daughter lying motionless under the left rear side of the car. He called out for his wife, after which they picked up the child and rushed her to the GPHC where she was admitted a patient in the Emergency Unit.

Police said statements have not yet been taken due to both parents being traumatised.  This incident comes less than 24 hours after another similar incident at Mahaica, ECD where a 20-month-old boy was crushed to death.
