22 new COVID cases as death toll almost 200

A total of 22 new COVID-19 cases were recorded on Wednesday from 603 tests, taking Guyana’s overall number of confirmed cases to 8,648.

Region Four recorded the most cases with 15 new infections; regions Three and Ten recorded five and two new cases, respectively.

To date, 8,043 persons have recovered with one death recorded in Region Three earlier Wednesday, taking the total to 199 since the virus infiltrated the country in March 2020.

There are 364 patients in home isolation, 36 patients are in institutional isolation and six patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Disease Hospital.
