The Rotary Club of Garden City (Georgetown), the first ‘Cause Based’ club in Guyana with a focus on environmental issues, donated garbage receptacles to the Protected Areas Commission and National Parks Commission.

Rotarian, Erwin Chapman in representing the club, shared that Rotary Club of Garden City (Georgetown) is the newest Rotary Club in Guyana, and our projects and activities will be focused on “Supporting the Environment”.

Denise Fraser, Commissioner of Protected Areas Commission, and Denise Bentick, Director of the National Parks Commission, expressed their appreciation for the receipt of the items. It was noted it is a timely donation as with the current national restrictions, persons use the park not only for physical health activities. The receptacles will be able to support the cleanliness and aesthetics of the environs.

The Protected Areas Commission (PAC) is mandated to manage, maintain, promote and expand the national protected areas system in Guyana, and gives support to the urban parks in the city which falls under the purview of the National Parks Commission. (Press release)
