65 new COVID-19 cases from 1,155 tests

The Ministry of Health reported on Thursday, that Guyana recorded a total of 65 new COVID-19 cases, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 8,993.

With 1,155 tests conducted, positive results were recorded in six of the ten Administrative Regions.

Region Four recorded the majority of new cases with 38 persons testing positive while 19 positive cases were recorded in Region Three.

Additionally, two persons from both Regions Six and Nine tested positive, three from Region Seven with Region Five recording one case.

The remaining four Regions had no new cases.

To date, 8,230 persons have recovered, with Guyana’s number of deaths standing at 206, the latest death is a mother of four from Ituni, Region Ten (Upper Demerara-Berbice).

There are 519 patients in home isolation, 31 patients are in institutional isolation and seven patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Disease Hospital.
