Schoolgirl robbed at gunpoint by bicycle bandits
A 16-year-old schoolgirl was robbed at gunpoint of her Samsung cellphone valued at $45,000 by two “identifiable bandits” on a bicycle.
Police in a statement said the incident occurred on Friday at about 15:45h on the Coldingen, East Coast Demerara railway embankment.
According to the statement, the victim, who is a student of the Institute of Business Education, was on her way to school along with friends when she was approached by the bandits. Police said they demanded money and valuables. The schoolgirl attempted to run away but was stopped by the bandits who relieved her of her cellphone and escaped.
Investigations are ongoing.
