Region Three woman dies from COVID-19, toll now at 208

Guyana on Monday recorded another COVID-19 death, pushing the death toll from the pandemic to 208.

The latest fatality is an 89-year-old female from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) who died while receiving care at a medical facility. This is the eleventh person to have died this month.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed the death and said the woman tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)

All Guyanese are reminded to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 EMERGENCY MEASURES (NO.15), which are in effect until March 31, 2021. This order emphasises:

  the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home;

  the importance of maintaining the six feet physical distance from others;

  and the need for good hand-hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
