Guyana moves toward 10, 000 infection mark with 84 new COVID-19 cases

A total of 84 new COVID-19 cases were recorded on Wednesday from 881 tests, taking Guyana’s overall number of confirmed cases to 9,322.

Seven regions recorded new cases, with Region Four recording the majority of cases with 54 new infections. Region Three was the only other region to record double digits with 12 infections.

Region Seven is up eight new cases with Regions Two and Ten twinning with three new cases each and Regions Five and Six also sharing a total of two new cases respectively.  Regions One, Eight and Nine recorded no new infections.

To date, 8,381 persons have recovered with Guyana’s total number of deaths standing at 210.

There are 684 patients in home isolation, 41 patients are in institutional isolation and seven patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Disease Hospital.
