Region Four continues to lead COVID-19 infections as country records 44 new cases from 768 tests

A total of 44 new COVID-19 cases were recorded on Friday from 768 tests, taking Guyana’s overall number of confirmed cases to 9,486.

Regions Four and Three continue to lead the country’s new infections with 26 and 10 cases recorded respectively. Regions Seven and Ten recorded three cases each with Regions Five and Six bringing up the total with one case each. There were no new infections recorded in the other regions.

To date, 8,453 persons have recovered with Guyana’s total number of deaths standing at 212.

There are 767patients in home isolation, 45 patients are in institutional isolation and nine patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Disease Hospital.
