Everest Cricket Club produced a dominant performance against the University of Guyana Trojans when Georgetown Cricket Association’s Second Division two-day tournament resumed at the weekend.

Everest resumed from their overnight total 172-4 and declared on 265-9 with a lead of 193 at home.

Talented batsmen Matthew Nandu fell agonisingly four short of a well-deserved century after striking five fours, to be leg before to Jonathan Rampersaud, who ended with 4-60.

Amir Khan made 25, while Denesh Mangal contributed 20. Miguel Parks took 2-33 and Mark Cumberbatch 2-64.

Batting a second time, UG were bowled out for 120 in 41.1 overs. Rampersaud top-scored with a compact 45, while contributions came from Damion Vantull (21), Ray Newton (16) and Keon Roberts (15).

Khan, who took 5-25 in UG’s first innings, grabbed up 3-20, while Dwayne Adams took 3-20 and Richie Looknauth 2-22.

On day one, UG were bundled out of 72 led by the spin of Khan and left-arm spinner Javed Rasheed (2-11). Laurel Parks top-scored with 22 while Morris was unbeaten on 16.

Looknauth (58) and Nandu (57*) had led Everest charge on day one.
