Guyana has recorded two more COVID-19 deaths, taking the overall death toll since March 2020 to 223.

The latest fatalities are two males; a 60-year-old from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) and a 61-year-old from Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), who died on March 24, while receiving care at a medical facility.

These persons take the toll for the month of March thus far to 24 and the eighth for the week.

All Guyanese are reminded to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 EMERGENCY MEASURES (NO.15), which are in effect until March 31, 2021. This order emphasises:

  • the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home;
  • the importance of maintaining the six feet physical distance from others;
  • and the need for good hand-hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
