Guyana started qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Trinidad and Tobago in the Dominican Republic on Thursday evening.

With one team from Group F advancing to the next round, the margin of victory is significant, given the permutations that could possibly come into play later.

Trinidad and Tobago scored early in the piece through Levi Garcia in the seventh minute, before Ryan Telfer scored the first of his two goals in the 15th.

Telfer completed an almost perfect first-half for the Twin-Island Republic, completing his double in the 44th minute.

Guyana will face the Bahamas in their second game of the Group on March 30, while Trinidad and Tobago will play Puerto Rico on March 28. The other team in Group F is St. Kitts and Nevis.
