Two more COVID deaths, 10 new cases recorded

The Ministry of Health on Tuesday reported that a 56-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman have been recorded as the country’s latest COVID-19 deaths.

Both patients, who are from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica), died while receiving care at a medical facility on Monday, March 29, taking the death toll since March 2020, to 231.

The latest fatalities also means that 32 persons died for the month thus far, making it one of the deadliest months since COVID-19 hit these shores.

Meanwhile, a total of 10 new COVID-19 cases were recorded on Tuesday from 452 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 10, 192.

Region Four recorded six new cases, Region Three recorded two new cases and Regions Six and Seven each recorded one new case.

There are 12 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Disease Hospital, 58 patients are in institutional isolation and 893 patients are in home isolation.

Total recoveries to date are 8, 998.
