Police on Saturday arrested a 38-year-old rank of the Guyana Defence Force and a 32-year-old employee of the Guyana Water Inc (GWI) after they were found in possession of 16 grams of cannabis at Goed Fortuin Squatting Area, West Bank Demerara.
Police Headquarters in a statement noted that during a raid between 03:00hrs and 05:00hrs, a search was conducted in their presence and a white transparent plastic bag containing a quantity of zip-loc bags with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis, was found in the living room behind a cabinet of the said house.
The two suspects, police said, were immediately informed of the allegation and cautioned; they both denied having knowledge of the illicit drug and were later arrested and taken to the Vreed-en-Hoop police station.
Police also reported that raids were conducted at the house of a 35-year-old resident of Goed Intent, West Bank Demerara but nothing was discovered.
