The latest fatality is a 67-year-old woman from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) who died while receiving care at a medical facility on Monday, April 5.

The Ministry of Health earlier on Monday reported that two males, a 59-year-old and a 44-year-old, along with a 73-year-old woman, also died while receiving care on Sunday, April 4.

This means that a total of ten persons have died from the dreaded disease between Saturday and Monday. The latest fatality also represent the 14th death to be recorded for the month thus far; a total of 36 persons died in March, making it one of the deadliest months for COVID-19 here.

All Guyanese are reminded to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 EMERGENCY MEASURES (NO.16), which are in effect until April 30, 2021. This order emphasises:
• the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home;

• and the need for good hand hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
