135 new COVID cases, over 1000 patients in home isolation

Guyana on Thursday recorded 135 new COVID-19 infections from a record 2, 344 tests. This takes the total number of confirmed cases since March 2020, to 10, 853.

Region Four continues to record the highest number of infections with 87. This was followed by Region Three with 18 positive cases while Regions Two and Five both recorded seven new cases; Region Nine recorded eight new cases and Region Ten recorded four new cases.

The Health Ministry earlier on Thursday reported two additional COVID-19 deaths, taking the death toll to 252. To date, 9, 517 persons have recovered from the virus.

There are 13 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 69 patients are in institutional isolation and 1, 015 patients are in home isolation.
