The Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) has taken a decision to suspend all of its ongoing competitions, given the recent spike in COVID-19 cases and deaths in Guyana.

Matches in all GCA competitions have been put on hold, effective Saturday April 10, 2021.

In the past weeks, the GCA had been staging games in its outstanding 2019 competitions, namely the GISE/Star Party Rentals/Trophy Stall First Division Two-day, the Noble House Seafood Second Division Two-day and the New Building Society Second Division 40-over.

The Berbice Cricket Board and the Big Man Cricket Committee have also postponed their matches, citing the rising number of coronavirus cases and deaths in recent weeks.

Guyana’s death toll currently stands at 252, while the overall number of confirmed cases is 10,718.
