The search for 20-year-old Avinash Fernandes ended tragically on Thursday when his decomposed body was found floating in the Arakaka River, North West District in Region One.
Fernandes of Mabaruma Compound, Region One went missing on Monday, April 05.
Police in a statement said his body was found sometimes between 07:00h and 11:45h by a party of policemen and Keith Alphonso, the man that Fernandes worked for.
Police said no marks of violence were seen on the body. The body was escorted to the Port Kaituma Public Hospital.
Fernandes was last seen on April 05 at about 21:00hrs at his camp in the Arakaka backdam at 13 Mile Trail Line.
He was wearing a light grey pants, black slippers and a jersey with black, white and red stripes.
Police had reported that Fernandes has a distinctive burnt mark on his stomach.
