Police arrest security guard who accidentally fired gun
Police have arrested security guard Dequan James after a report was made that he accidentally fired his 22-gauge shotgun at the Moon Supermarket at La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara, on Wednesday morning; no one was injured.
James is attached to the North West Security Service. After the firearm went off, Police said James contacted his firm’s Chief Security Officer Kendall and informed him what occurred. Kendall then arrived at the scene and collected the cartridge casing and left.
James was arrested and taken to the Beterverwagting Police Station; the firearm and cartridges were lodged.
In the afternoon, Kendall went to the station handed over one cartridge casing and Police said he was “warned” to provide all relevant documents pertaining to the said firearm.
