86 new COVID cases recorded, 14 in ICU
Guyana on Saturday recorded 86 new COVID-19 cases from 548 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 11, 044.
Fifty-five of the new cases were recorded in Region Four; Region Three recorded 15 new cases while Region Ten recorded eight cases; Region Five recorded four new cases, followed by Region Six with three new cases and Region Two one new case.
There are now 14 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital; 71 patients are in institutional isolation and 1, 033 are in home quarantine. The country is now in a third-wave of the pandemic with the virus attacking the younger population and making them sicker.
To date, 252 have died and 9, 688 have recovered.
