The Hydromet Office issued an advisory that Guyana should expect continuous moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the weekend (April 9-11) along with thunderstorms and possible flooding in low lying areas.

Agriculture Minister, Zulfikar Mustapha, on Friday conducted a site visit to two drainage pumps in Georgetown to ensure the structures were functioning.

The Minister noted that it was important to assess the city’s drainage structures ahead of the forecasted rainy weekend given the fact that many areas in Georgetown are prone to flooding.
