Kissoon’s Furniture Store this week made available 100 camping mattresses to help with relief efforts for St. Vincent and Grenadines, which has been hit by an erupting volcano over the past few days.
The La Soufriere volcano erupted on April 9, 2021. The volcano, dormant since 1979, started showing signs of activity back in December. Now, Guyana and other nations are continuing efforts to provide much-needed supplies.
Sales Manager Christina Dhaneshar said: “Kissoon’s Furniture Store is pleased to make this donation of 100 camping mattresses towards the St. Vincent relief effort. It is truly devastating what has happened; many lives have to be rebuilt, so we are happy that we can be able to make this very meaningful contribution towards this venture.”
Meanwhile, outlining that Guyana’s support to St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be continuous in the coming weeks as the Caribbean island begins its recovery, President Irfaan Ali has said that Guyana intends to ship 350 tons of relief items for the people there.
Over $50 million in humanitarian relief supplies have been accumulated as the government and the business community pool efforts to help the CARICOM nation.
