Cristy Campbell, who served as First Vice-President of the Guyana Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA) in her previous tenure on the executive, will now take up the role as President after she was elected to the top post on Friday evening at the National Racquet Centre, Woolford Avenue, Georgetown.

After votes of the Guyana Lawn Tennis Coaches Association were added, Campbell defeated challenger Annabelle Carter 11-3.

Campbell stated that she was elated to be elected President and she is ready to work to better the sport. She further indicated she is ready to work with all persons in a bid to decentralise the sport from central Georgetown.

Meanwhile, Nigel Niles got 11 votes to Patrick Mentore’s three to be named First Vice-President, and Surendra Khayyam was elected Second Vice-President unopposed.

Both Patricia Moore and Delon Fraser got seven voted but Moore withdrew, which made Fraser the new Secretary, and Ramesh Seebarran was elected as Treasurer as he got 10 votes to Janiece Scrub’s four.

The elected Committee Members are Jamal Goodluck, Kimberly Conway, Renace Jordan and Marlyn Henry.
