Scores arrested for tint, other violations during police traffic operation

Several persons were arrested by the police on Thursday following at least four road traffic enforcement exercises in different parts of the country.

Persons were arrested for offences including the prohibition of tint, failure to produce driver’s license and driving under the influence.

Police headquarters in a statement said between 16:00 hrs and 17:00 hrs at Good Hope Public Road, East Coast Demerara, ranks of the Vigilance Police Station carried out an exercise during which seven drivers were arrested for the prohibition of tint, two for failure to produce driver’s license, one for maintenance of a motor vehicle, untidy conductor and amendment of entry, respectively; two were arrested separately for conductor overload and breach of prescribed fitness.

Another four persons were arrested during a traffic task patrol in Berbice, Region Six; two for driving under the influence and two others for obscured ID mark. One person was arrested for unlighted motor vehicle front and failure to produce a drivers licence, respectively.

Operation Safe Road was also conducted on Thursday in the Beterverwagting Police Station District where eight persons were arrested for breach of condition of road service and one person for the prohibition of a tinted motor vehicle.

Another stop and search at Springlands saw about 60 vehicles being stopped and searched but nothing of evidential value was found.
