Elderly woman dies from COVID-19

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has revealed that another person who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has died, taking the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 268.

The latest fatality is an 81-year-old female from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) who died on April 16 while receiving care at a medical facility.

This is in addition to the four patients who died while hospitalised on April 15, taking the death toll for the month of April to 35 thus far.

In March 2021, a total of 36 patients died while in October 2020, 44 persons died making it the deadliest month for COVID-19 to date.
