Taxi Driver arrested after ganja found in car

Acting on a tip, ranks from the Police Narcotics Branch and the Special Branch, on Friday, intercepted a car that was at the time transporting a quantity of marijuana.

A statement from police headquarters said around 18:50 the silver-grey motor car (#PTT 6996) was intercepted at Palmyra, Corentyne.

The car was being driven at the time by a 30-year-old taxi driver of Stanleytown, New Amsterdam.

A search was conducted on the motor car during which a white plastic barrel containing four (4) bulky parcels of suspected cannabis was found inside.

The items were confiscated and the taxi driver arrested.
