37 persons have now died from COVID-19 for the month of April

The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Sunday reported that two more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died, taking the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 270.

The latest fatalities are two men, an 80-year-old from Region 6 (East Berbice- Corentyne) and a 62-year- old man from Region 4 (Demerara-Mahaica). They both died on April 17, 2021 while receiving care at a medical facility.

This is in addition an 81-year-old female from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) who died on April 16 and four other patients who died while hospitalised on April 15, taking the death toll for the month of April to 37 thus far.

In March 2021, a total of 36 patients died while in October 2020, 44 persons died making it the deadliest month for COVID-19 to date.
