Another COVID death, 101 new cases

Hours after the Ministry of Health (MOH) reported two COVID deaths on Sunday, a third death was reported.

The latest fatality is a 69-year-old male from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara). He died on April 17, 2021 while receiving care at a medical facility.

This latest death takes the death toll for the month of April to 38 thus far.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health also announced 101 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s overall number of confirmed cases to 11,863.

Leading the new infections is Region Four with 57 cases, followed by Region Three with 10 cases.

Regions Two, Six and Ten recorded 2 new cases respectively.

Region One recorded one new case, Region Five recorded four new cases, Region Seven recorded five new cases and eight new cases were recorded in Region Nine.

To date, 10, 180 persons have recovered.

There are 1,326 patients in home isolation, 74 patients are in institutional isolation and 12 patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital.
