A man accused of robbing another man of his jewellery worth some $1.5M and shooting him in a bid to escape is now being sought by the police in Berbice.

Police said Damion McKenzie, 29, also known as ‘Tuckman’ of Brighton Village, Corentyne, Berbice was at an event dancing with a female when the suspect allegedly approached him from behind and grabbed his two gold chains from around his neck, before running off.

McKenzie ran behind the unidentified suspect, who eventually escaped through a clump of bushes. The suspect fired three shots in Mckenzie’s direction, one of which hit him on his right thigh.

McKenzie was rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital before being referred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital for further treatment.

Police said this is a developing story.

Dancing at an event? WE ARE IN COVID PROTOCOLS PEOPLE. THE CHAIN IS THE LEAST OF YOUR WORRIES. YOUR DUNCY BEHAVIOR SHOULD BE WORRISOME THOUGH.
