West Indian Sports Complex supports GCB Cricket Gear Project

Robb Street business establishment West Indian Sports Complex at the weekend became the first entity to throw its support behind the Guyana Cricket Board’s (GCB) ‘Cricket gear for young and promising cricketers in Guyana project.’

The project is being coordinated by GCB executive Anil Beharry and cricket enthusiast Kishan Das of the USA.

Owned by the late Feroze Khan, a former Everest First Division cricketer and now run by his two sons Imran and Javeed, the popular Sports Store has donated four junior bats and four pairs of junior batting pads to the project.

The donation was organised by former Berbice and Guyana off-spinner, Sean Devers, who is now a cricket commentator and Sports Journalist with Kaieteur News.

The donation was made by Rafeena Ganie of West Indies Sports Complex to Beharry, a former Berbice Cricket Board president and Berbice cricketer on behalf of Khan siblings.

Beharry, a Technocrat with responsibility for Good Governance, Marketing and Finance of the GCB, said of the project.

“With my recent appointment on the GCB, I feel compelled to further the cause of cricket in Guyana, young cricketers in particular. This project is done in collaboration with Kishan Das of the USA and will target young talented cricketers in need of assistance with cricket gears. I will go around the length and breadth of Guyana to do talent spotting and will also be guided by Cricket Club leaders to identify young interested talent,” Beharry explained.
