Two men, who led ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) on a high-speed chase in Georgetown on Tuesday, were arrested and reportedly found to be in possession of cocaine and marijuana.

Daquan Wills, a 25-year-old of 141 Meadow Brook Drive, Georgetown and 39-year-old Joel Fung-A-Fat, of 342 Foreshaw Street, Georgetown, and of a US address, are in police custody.

The anti-drug agency in a statement Tuesday night said that Wills was driving a maroon Nissan Juke, PVV 6706, which ranks had under surveillance.

When ranks attempted to interdict the said vehicle, it sped away and CANU gave chase and intercepted same at Lance Gibbs Street and Vlissengen Road, Georgetown.

It is alleged that during the chase, a brick of suspected cocaine was thrown from the vehicle and same was retrieved by CANU ranks weighing 1.054 kg. The two men were the lone occupants of the vehicle.

They eventually led CANU ranks to Stone Avenue, Campbellville where another brick of suspected cocaine and a bag containing bulk parcels of suspected cannabis were found in the yard of an abandoned range house. The cocaine weighed 1.048 kg and the cannabis totalled 17.956kg.

    The investigation is ongoing.
