The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Tuesday reported that two more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died, taking the total number of deaths from the pandemic since March 2020 to 273.

The latest fatalities are two men, a 60-year-old from Region 6 (East Berbice- Corentyne) and a 56-year- old man from Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice). They both died on April 19, 2021, while receiving care at a medical facility.

These two latest deaths mean that more persons have died in April than those who died in March 2021 from the virus. The death toll for April thus far is 40.

In March 2021, a total of 36 patients died while in October 2020, 44 persons died making it the deadliest month for COVID-19 to date.
