160 new COVID-19 cases from over 3,000 tests

Guyana on Wednesday recorded 160 new COVID-19 cases from 3,002 tests, taking the country’s overall number of confirmed cases to 12,123.

The majority of new infections were recorded in Region Four with 94 new cases. New infections recorded in the Regions were as follows: Region Ten – nine new cases; Region Nine – four new cases; Region Three – 20 new cases; Region Seven – two new cases;  Region Six – 17 new cases, Region One – one new case and Region Two – eight new cases.

To date, 10,442 persons have recovered. The total number of deaths stands at 274.

There are 1,330 patients in home isolation, 74 patients in institutional isolation and 12 patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital.
