Police are on the hunt for two motorcycle bandits who robbed a man of his $460,000 XR motorcycle on Tuesday at the traffic light at Eccles, East Bank Demerara.

Police Headquarters in a statement noted that Romain Legay was proceeding south along the Eccles public road when he stopped at the Eccles traffic light, during which two males on a black and red XR motorcycle approached him.

It is alleged that the pillion rider dismounted and started to assault the victim, which led to a scuffle, during which the bandit used a black handgun to beat the victim to his face and relieved him of the motorcycle.

The suspects then escaped in a northern direction of the East Bank public road.

The victim was taken to the East Ruimveldt Police Station and was subsequently escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation to seek medical attention.

Investigations are ongoing.
