Guyana surpasses 12,000 COVID-19 cases

Guyana on Thursday recorded 102 new COVID-19 cases from 977 tests, taking the country’s overall number of confirmed cases to 12,234.

The majority of new infections were recorded in Region Four with 55 new cases. New infections recorded in the Regions were as follows: Region Ten – six new cases; Region Nine – one new case; Region Three – 19 new cases;  Region Six – 10 new cases, Region One – three new cases, Region Five – seven new cases and Region Two – one new case.

To date, 10,555 persons have recovered. The total number of deaths stands at 277.

There are 1,324 patients in home isolation, 66 patients in institutional isolation and 12 patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital.
