Avinash Persaud wins Ansa McAl Trading’s Caribe golf tournament

Multiple-time Guyana Open champion Avinash Persaud topped a field of 37 golfers on Saturday (April 24) to win the Ansa McAl Trading sponsored one-day golf tournament, under its Caribe Tropical Hard Cider brand.

Playing at the Lusignan Golf Course, East Coast Demerara, Persaud, playing with a handicap of one, finished with Gross 68 and Net 67, while Patajilee Persaud, with a handicap of 14, had a Gross 81 and Net 67 to take second spot.

Richard Haniff, playing off a nine handicap, took third with Gross 77, Net 68.

Avinash Persaud had the Longest Drive on the day, while Gavin Todd was Nearest-to-the-Pin. Patanjilee had the Best Net on the front nine, and Eureka Giddings had the Best Net on the back nine.

At the presentation ceremony which followed, several representatives of Ansa McAl Trading were in attendance to assist in the distribution of prizes, including Managing Director Troy Cadogan, Business Unit Head Errol Nelson and Brand Manager Kwesi Richmond.

Lusignan Golf Club President Patanjilee Persaud thanked Ansa McAl Trading for its continued support of the Club and by extension golf. Persaud also thanked the Club’s membership for their excellent support by turning up to play.

Nelson said it was pleasing for his company to see a sporting event being played during the COVID-19 pandemic, and since the members of the Club were compliant to the regulations to stay safe his company is pleased to be associated with the event.

The event was deemed a success and Nelson said Ansa McAl Trading is committed to continuing its sponsorship of future tournaments.
