The Guyana Cycling Federation is awaiting the necessary approval from the National COVID-19 Task Force for the hosting of its National Cycling Championship, set for May 22, 23 and 30.

While announcing the dates a few weeks back, the Federation had stated that hosting of the three-legged race was dependent on approval from the Task Force.

Racing Secretary Malcolm Sonaram said while the Federation has not received a response from the Task Force, they are optimistic of being granted approval.

The Federation has received permission in the past to host events, and those races have been held in strict conformity with the existing COVID-19 regulations.
