Man killed by girlfriend’s cousin

A La Penitence Street, Georgetown man was Saturday night killed by his girlfriend’s cousin.

Dead is Devon Xavier, 20.

Police said on Saturday night last, Xavier went to visit his girlfriend in A Field, Sophia, Georgetown. As they were talking at about 21:30 hrs, the girlfriend’s father and her cousin approached.

The girlfriend reportedly told Xavier that he had to leave because her relatives were not in favour of the relationship.

Her father instructed her to go inside the house. As she was heading in, she saw her cousin grab Xavier, took out a knife from his pants waist and stabbed him to his right-side chest. Xavier collapsed to the ground and the suspect ran away.

The body was examined by a doctor and Xavier was pronounced dead. The body is presently laying at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem examination.

Police are hunting the suspect while the father of the girlfriend is in custody.
