Labourer falls to death from Regent St. building

A labourer of Sisters’ Village, West Bank Demerara, on Wednesday reportedly fell to his death from the fourth floor of a building under construction on Regent Street, Georgetown.

Dead is Lloyd Feroze called Toney.

Police reported that the man was hired by a Skull City, Patentia, West Bank Demerara foreman to work on the multi-story building owned by Glenn Lall, publisher of the Kaieteur News.

Reports are that at around 13:25 hrs, the labourer was mixing cement on the ground floor and later headed to the top floor that was still under construction.

It was described as an open space with a stairway in the centre.

Police said the foreman reported that he heard a crashing sound and on checking, he discovered Feroze lying on the ground floor.  The labourer was taken to Georgetown Public Hospital via ambulance and was pronounced dead.

An examination of the body revealed a punctured wound to the back of his head. The body is at the hospital’s morgue awaiting a post mortem.

The police investigations are ongoing.
