121 new COVID-19 cases; 17 persons in ICU
Guyana on Saturday recorded a total of 121 new COVID-19 cases from 1,386 tests, taking the country’s overall number of confirmed cases to 13,404.
The majority of new infections were recorded in Region Four with 74 new cases, followed by Region Three with 18 new cases.
Regions One and Two recorded three new cases each while Regions Five and Nine recorded two new cases each. The other regions that recorded new cases are were Region Six – six new cases and Region Seven – eight new cases.
Region Eight reported no new infections. To date, 11, 299 persons have recovered.
Guyana’s total number of deaths is now at 298 since the pandemic hit these shores in March 2020.
There are 1,701 patients in home isolation, 10 patients are in institutional isolation and 17 patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital and eight are in institutional quarantine.
