West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach took outstanding figures of 8-40 on Saturday as Surrey inflicted an innings and 289 defeat on Hampshire in the English County Championship at Kia Oval, London.
The 32-year-old Barbadian had 2-40 in the first innings to back up Jordan Clarke’s 6-21 as Hampshire were skittled out for 92 in 34.3 overs.
Surrey then piled up a mammoth 560-7 declared with ex-South Africa batsman Hashim Amla retiring hurt on 215, England batsman Ollie Pope making 131, skipper Rory Burns 80 and youngster Jamie Smith 78.
Roach, with the experience of 63 Test matches, then went to work in the second innings, dismantling Hampshire’s line-up, claiming his eight wickets in 18.3 overs. Hampshire were dismissed for 179.
