A 50-year-old man, who is accused of stabbing his partner to death at her D’Urban Street, Lodge, Georgetown house on Saturday night, is unconscious at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after he ingested a poisonous substance.

Police Headquarters in a statement revealed that Nicola Wilson, known as ‘Lisa’, was stabbed some 14 times at around 18:30hrs by the accused during an argument shortly after she and her two children returned home from a church meeting.

According to the police statement, Wilson’s 14-year-old son said that his mother informed the suspect that he cannot accompany them to her sister’s birthday party since he is not welcomed there.

The son further related that after he dressed, he went outside and about five minutes after he heard his mother screaming.  He returned to the house and saw the suspect armed with a knife, stabbing his mother who later fell to the ground on the back landing.

Her son raised an alarm and confronted the suspect who attempted to stab him. The son then saw the perpetrator running from the house and escaped in his silver 212 motorcar

Emergency Medical Technicians from the Central Fire Station responded and Wilson was pronounced dead by a doctor. Police said 14 stab wounds were seen to the upper part of the victim’s body. The suspected weapon was retrieved and the scene processed.

Wilson’s body is at the Lyken Funeral Parlour awaiting an autopsy.

Meanwhile, police later discovered that the suspect returned to his house in Festival City where his nephew stated that he confessed to committing the act.

The nephew further alleged that the suspect informed him that he had ingested a poisonous substance and that he was going to die. He gave the nephew some of his personal belongings with instructions of how to distribute same.

Despite his refusal, the suspect was assisted by relatives and taken to the GPHC where he was arrested and is under police guard.
