Lawrence Brummell, the 50-year-old man who reportedly ingested a poisonous substance after stabbing his partner to death at her D’Urban Street, Lodge, Georgetown house on Saturday night, has died.

Police reported that Brummell of Lot 1975 Williamstad Street, Festival City, North Ruimveldt, died on Sunday at about 09:30 hrs at the Georgetown Public Hospital while receiving medical attention.

The suspect was rushed to the medical facility after confessing to relatives that he stabbed his partner, Nicola Wilson, known as ‘Lisa’ to death.

Wilson was stabbed some 14 times at around 18:30hrs by the accused during an argument shortly after she and her two children returned home from a church meeting.

Police said that Wilson’s 14-year-old son said that his mother informed the suspect that he cannot accompany them to her sister’s birthday party since he is not welcomed there.

The son further related that after he dressed, he went outside and about five minutes after he heard his mother screaming.  He returned to the house and saw the suspect armed with a knife, stabbing his mother who later fell to the ground on the back landing.

Her son raised an alarm and confronted the suspect who attempted to stab him. The son then saw the perpetrator running from the house and escaped in his silver 212 motorcar.

Emergency Medical Technicians from the Central Fire Station responded and Wilson was pronounced dead by a doctor. Fourteen stab wounds were seen to the upper part of her body, police said.

Wilson’s body is at the Lyken Funeral Parlour awaiting an autopsy.
