Two arrested, Forestry Officer hospitalised after drunken brawl

A fight between three men who are known to each other has left one person hospitalised while two remain in police custody pending investigations.

A police statement on the alleged unlawful wounding noted that 29-year-old Karl Alpin, a Guyana Forestry Commission Officer, was imbibing alcohol with two men who are known to him at Orealla Village, Corentyne, Berbice on Monday.

At around 23:40hrs, an argument commenced leading to a brief scuffle.

Police said one of the perpetrators left and armed himself with a piece of wood and subsequently lashed Alpin several times about his body while the second perpetrator joined in.

The perpetrators also received injuries about their bodies with one suspect being treated and sent away while Alpin is admitted at the Orealla Hospital.

Both suspects are presently in police custody at Orealla Police Station as investigations continue.
