Two men die from COVID; death toll at 305

Two more men who tested positive for COVID-19 have succumbed to the disease, taking Guyana’s overall death toll since March 2020 to 305.

The latest fatalities are a 66-year-old and a 47-year-old from Region 4 (Demerara-Mahaica). They both died while receiving care at a medical facility on May 3.

This takes the death toll for May to five thus far. The latest deaths follow four others who died on Sunday.

Importantly, with the addition of the deaths reported today, there have now been 105 deaths recorded over the past two months. Between March 11, 2020, to March 4, 2021, Guyana recorded exactly 200 deaths.

In April alone, the deadliest month of the pandemic so far, 65 individuals who were infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the disease COVID-19, lost their lives.
