Reg. 3 residents die from COVID; death toll at 308
Two more persons who tested positive for COVID-19 succumbed to the dreaded disease, taking Guyana’s overall death toll since March 2020 to 308.
The latest fatalities are a 58-year-old female and a 65-year-old male both from Region 3 (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara), who died receiving care at a medical facility on Tuesday, May 4. The day prior, three persons died, while on Sunday, four others died from the dreaded disease.
The death toll for May thus far is eight. Importantly, with the addition of the deaths reported today, there have now been 108 deaths recorded over the past two months. Between March 11, 2020, to March 4, 2021, Guyana recorded exactly 200 deaths.
In April alone, the deadliest month of the pandemic so far, 65 individuals who were infected, lost their lives.
All Guyanese are reminded to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 EMERGENCY MEASURES (NO.17), which are in effect until May 31, 2021.
