128 new COVID-19 cases from over 700 tests

Guyana on Thursday recorded a total of 128 new COVID-19 cases from 781 tests, pushing the country’s overall number of confirmed cases to 13,957.

Region Four recorded the majority of the new cases with 58, followed by Region Three with 30 new cases. Regions Six and Seven recorded four new cases each while Region One recorded nine new cases; Region Two recorded five new cases while Region Five recorded eight new cases and Region Ten recorded seven new cases.

The other Regions that recorded new cases are Regions Eight and Nine with two and one new cases, respectively.

To date, 11,787 persons have recovered from the dreaded disease. Guyana’s total number of deaths is now at 310 since the pandemic hit these shores in March 2020 while the death toll for May now stands at 10.

There are 1,745 patients in home isolation, 99 patients are in institutional isolation, 16 patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit and eight are in institutional quarantine.
