City business Genuine Auto Spares and Tools on Thursday announced its partnership with the Lusignan Golf Club to stage a one-day tournament on Sunday (May 9, 2021).

During a simple ceremony at its Smyth Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, location, Managing Director Amrit Prashad presented a cheque to Club Captain of the Lusignan Golf Club, Patrick Prashad.

Club Captain Patrick Prashad touched on the importance of corporate support to sustain the sport, noting that the sponsorship of Genuine Auto Spares and Tools is most welcome.

He said not just the golfers, but the community of Lusignan would be impacted by the alliance formed by the company and the Golf Club.

“This type of sponsorship enhances the longevity of the Club and the sport. The Club needs this kind of support from members of the business community because sponsorship is a lifeline to this organisation,” Patrick Prashad.

“This organisation works towards the benefit of the village that it is located in. It assists over 20-odd persons with a little extra in their pocket so they have more spending power when they go out.”

Amrit Prashad, who professes to be a lover of sport, said he is pleased to partner with the Golf Club. “I wish the Golf Club continued success and keep growing from strength to strength.”

On Sunday, golfers will be sent on their way following a gunshot start at 09:00h in the 18-hole Medal Play tournament. Players will be judged on the Best Net scores, with the top three being awarded.

There will also be prizes for the Best Net on the front nine and the back nine.

This tournament will be the third in a row following the Ansa McAl Trading and Massy Motors sponsored competitions over the past two weekends.

Club president Patanjilee Persaud has stated that the Club is keen on being in conformity with the national COVID-19 measures, and has been putting systems in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone at the Golf Course.
